What This Can Feel Like
- The same arguments return without much understanding.
- Family roles feel familiar but difficult to talk about.
- Some expectations are understood without being spoken.
- Past experiences affect the way you respond to one another now.
How We Work With It
The conversation can hold more than one perspective.
Jazmine works warmly and collaboratively with families with teen or adult children. A strengths-based approach notices the ways your family already connects as well as the conversations that feel difficult. There is room to hear different perspectives without making one person responsible for everything. You can discuss communication patterns, changing relationships, and the impact of trauma at a pace your family and Jazmine set together.
Her systemic and decolonizing approach considers culture, identity, relationships, and the environments around your family. Family systems work looks at how people affect one another; narrative therapy considers the stories and roles that have become familiar. Care is LGBTQIA+-affirming. The conversation can include unspoken expectations and how those expectations shape what is said or held back. The focus is understanding relationships in context, with room for each person’s experience.
Room for What You Bring
Family therapy brings attention to how family members relate. Teen therapy is a separate service for a teen’s feelings, identity, and relationships. If you are unsure which service fits, the consultation offers time to describe what you are looking for. Family work here includes teen or adult children.
