Warm, Collaborative, and Grounded

Approach

Therapy should be a space where you can show up as your full self, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out.

Room to Be Yourself

My work is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. That means we talk together about what brought you here, while also paying attention to the understanding and abilities you already bring. You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation of everything you are feeling.

Therapy should be a space where you can show up as your full self, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. Helping you feel heard and understood is part of the work, whether we are talking about anxiety, relationships, identity, or experiences that are hard to put into words.

Your Context Matters

A systemic approach means understanding yourself in the context of your relationships, families, and environments. We look beyond an individual concern to consider what is happening around you and how those connections affect what you feel and need.

A decolonizing approach makes room for culture, identity, and lived experience rather than one right way to heal. Collective healing matters here: your experiences do not happen apart from the people and communities around you. My practice is LGBTQIA+-affirming, including room to talk about identity and exploring sexuality without having to leave those parts of yourself out.

Approaches I Draw On

01

Emotionally Focused Therapy

Looks at emotions and the ways people reach for each other, especially when connection feels difficult.

02

Gottman Method

Brings attention to communication, conflict, affection, and the everyday ways partners relate to one another.

03

Narrative Therapy

Makes room to talk about your story and consider how experiences have shaped the way you see yourself.

04

Family Systems

Looks at what happens between family members, rather than placing the whole concern on one person.

05

Attachment-Based Work

Considers how early relationships influence the ways you seek closeness and respond to connection now.

06

Solution-Focused Work

Pays attention to your strengths and what already helps, alongside what you would like to be different.

07

CBT

Looks at connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions so there is room to understand your responses.

Your First Session

In a first session, we talk about what brought you to therapy and what you want from our work. You can bring the words you have, even if your story feels difficult to untangle. We set the pace together rather than asking you to share everything at once.

Sessions are 50 minutes by secure video across Maryland. A free 15-minute consultation by phone comes before that first session, giving us a chance to talk about the service you are considering and whether working together feels like a fit.
